Living Machines. 9. International Conference on Biomimetic and Biohybrid Systems

The University of Freiburg, the Cluster of Excellence livMatS and the Institute for Bioengineering Catalonia/Spain will host virtually the "Living Machines. 9. International Conference on Biomimetic and Biohybrid Systems" from 28 to 30 July 2020. The conference focuses on understanding and harnessing the principles of living systems and the flow of communication signals between living and artificial systems.

The conference will bring together researchers from various disciplines such as biomimetics, robotics, neuroscience and materials science in an online edition from 28 to 30 July 2020. Researchers will present their work in lectures, poster sessions and workshops. In addition, leading international scientists from the fields of biomimetics and biohybrid systems will report on new developments in four plenary talks.

All those interested can participate in the conference free of charge.

Plenary Talks:

  • Auke Jan Ijspeert (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne/Switzerland)
Using Biorobots to Investigate Extant and Extinct Animal Locomotion

  • Bas Overvelde( AMOLF Amsterdam/The Netherlands)
Adaptive Behaviour Through Decentralized Reinforced Learning in Soft Robotic Matter

  • Holk Cruse (Bielefeld University/Germany)
From Walkin To Cognition, A Decentralized, Insect-Inspired Hexapod Controller
