System as an interdisciplinary concept and the research on living materials systems
“System” is a core concept in various disciplines involved in livMatS. My project aims to analyze this concept from both a philosophical and an interdisciplinary perspective. I will focus on definitions of “system” and differentiations in the understanding of the concept during the second half of the 20th century, including current theories of New Materialisms. In doing so, I will strengthen the viability of “system” as an interdisciplinary concept and further the understanding of the interplay among nature, technology, and society.
