My research focuses on developing mechanical metamaterials and compliant structures with passive adaptability for use in soft robotics. I investigate how geometry and structural design can be used to achieve functions such as programmed shape change, controlled mechanical instabilities, and passive adaptation without relying on complex sensing and control. By combining 3D modeling, finite-element simulations, rapid prototyping, and experimental testing, I aim to understand the mechanical principles underlying these systems and to improve their performance, efficiency, and integration into soft robotic systems.
